Safety

At the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants is a top priority. To maintain a secure and supportive environment, the foundation has implemented several key procedures and training programs for its volunteers and staff.

Annual Requirements:

  • Background Checks: Every volunteer undergoes an annual background check to ensure the safety of the children, staff, and volunteers.
  • Volunteer Applications: Volunteers are required to complete an annual application to update their information and reaffirm their commitment to the foundation.
  • Policy and Procedure Training: Each year, volunteers participate in training sessions covering the foundation's policies and procedures, ensuring they are well-informed and prepared for their roles.
  • Safety Training: Annual safety training is mandatory for all volunteers, equipping them with the knowledge to handle various situations effectively.

Training and Equipment:

  • Basic First Aid Training: Volunteers receive basic first aid training, enabling them to provide immediate assistance in case of minor injuries or emergencies.
  • Communication Technology: To facilitate efficient communication, volunteers are equipped with T-Mobile Push to Talk Communication Technology, ensuring they can quickly connect with each other and program staff when needed.

Program Staff Certifications:

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Program staff are certified in PALS, ensuring they are prepared to handle pediatric emergencies.
  • Heartsaver: Staff members are also certified in Heartsaver, which covers CPR and AED use for adults, children, and infants.
  • Basic First Aid Training: In addition to the above certifications, staff members receive basic first aid training to provide comprehensive care.

Emergency Preparedness:

  • AED Maintenance: The foundation maintains an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on-site, following Medical Director Protocols to ensure it is always ready for use in case of a cardiac emergency.

Security Measures:

  • Security Checkpoints: Security checkpoints are in place at all programs to ensure that only registered participants and volunteers are present. This measure helps maintain a safe and controlled environment for everyone involved.

Incident Reporting:

  • Strict Incident Reporting and Tracking: A strict incident reporting and tracking mechanism is in place, with zero tolerance adherence. This ensures that any incidents are promptly reported, thoroughly investigated, and appropriately addressed to maintain the highest standards of safety and accountability.

Through these rigorous procedures and training programs, the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation demonstrates its commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for all its children, volunteers, and staff.
