CAMP ADVENTURE (summer camp)

Camp Adventure is are summer adaptive camps are for children 6 to 19-years-old living with permanent disabilities. Camp Adventure allows children and teens the opportunity to unleash their possibilities!

During camp, campers enjoy sports, art, music, and games. Most importantly, they have fun and create lasting friendships and memories. Camp is staffed by qualified instructors and volunteers who provide instruction, encouragement, and support.

In 2022 we held five camps around the state.

Locations Include the following. Dates for 2023 will be posted in spring of 2023.

  • Roswell 
  • Las Cruces 
  • Farmington 

VIRTUAL CAMP INFO

Virtual Camps allow campers to enjoy and take part in all the fun and interactive programing from the safety of their homes. Each camper that registers will receive a Camp-in-a-Sac, filled with materials and supplies for the whole family to participate!

Registration for our virtual camps will begin again in late September 2022.  The first virtual camp will take place in October. 

Camp will feature arts and crafts projects, movement, fun, and much more!

Space is limited to the first 30 registrants each month.

GET INVOLVED!

The Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation is looking for youth volunteers, ages 16 and over to assist with our Camp Adventure summer camps! Volunteers can work at one or more of the camps listed above, camp activities will include wheelchair sports, archery, remote control cars, arts & crafts, adaptive cycling, and much more!

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Our camps are designed for children 6 to 19 years old with permanent physical disabilities and their siblings. Disabilities we accommodate include: cerebral palsy, spina bifida, amputation, muscular dystrophy, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, etc. In order to keep our campers safe and provide them with the best environment to participate in adaptive sports, this camp will most benefit campers that can comprehend basic rules and safety aspects of sports and follow instructions.

WHAT ADAPTIVE SPORTS WILL BE OFFERED?

Sports vary by location and can include: wheelchair basketball, cycling, archery, rock wall climbing, dancing, arts, kayaking, swimming, golfing, and a variety of games and activities.

NURSING STATION

A qualified nurse is available daily for children requiring special medical attention.

WHO WILL BE ASSISTING MY CHILD?

Our camp staff has years of experience working with children with physical disabilities. Each child will be paired with a volunteer that best suits their needs. Camp volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. All staff and volunteers must pass a background check in order to participate.
